Experience the Celtic Camino de Santiago – A Unique Pilgrimage Journey from Ireland to Spain
Have you ever dreamed of walking a Camino right from your doorstep? Now, you can! This special trip is perfect for those in Ireland who want to connect with the Camino tradition, starting from home. The Celtic Camino de Santiago links Ireland, the UK, and Spain, offering a unique pilgrimage experience that ties deeply into history.
For centuries, pilgrims have set off from their home countries to embark on the Camino, and now, the tradition continues with the Celtic Camino. This unforgettable walking journey connects two distinct regions: the scenic Boyne Valley Camino in Ireland and the Camino Inglés in Spain, leading you to the sacred Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
Your Journey: From the Boyne Valley to Santiago
Before we journey to Spain, we will walk the Boyne Valley Camino in Ireland, a beautiful 25km route through historic landscapes. We’ll pass through the peaceful Townley Hall Woods, visit Mellifont Abbey and Oldbridge House, and explore the village of Tullyallen. Along the way, you’ll enjoy scenic views of the Boyne Canal and the Boyneside Trail. This memorable walk takes you through Ireland’s rich history, preparing you for the Camino experience ahead.
Once in Spain, we’ll begin our walk from A Coruña, a port with deep historical ties to Ireland as the main embarkation point for Irish pilgrims since the 12th century. The Camino Inglés takes us through rugged coastlines, picturesque villages, and lush countryside, ending in Santiago de Compostela—a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its spectacular cathedral.
Earn Your Compostela Certificate
As you walk the Celtic Camino, you’ll be collecting stamps in your official Camino Passport, designed by local artists. By completing the Boyne Valley Camino (25km) in Ireland and the Camino Inglés (75km) in Spain, you’ll earn your Compostela certificate—a true mark of your pilgrimage journey.
Trip Highlights:
After completing your journey, you’ll visit the Pilgrims Office in Santiago to receive your Compostela Certificate and enjoy a celebratory dinner before returning to Ireland.
